Description: Located on the Northeast side of the Big Island of Hawaii, the Waipi o
Valley is a plush green area of the island that receives annual rainfall of
over 200 inches per year.
Access to the Valley Floor was over an exciting 4WD Road with a 25% Grade
that drops almost 1000 feet in about a mile. It was well worth renting the
Jeep Cherokee at the airport.
Once at the bottom you are treated to a beautiful mile long Black Sand
Adjacent to the beach is Kaluahine Falls. While sometimes dry, the falls
were looking real nice after the recent rainfall on the island.
