Cell Phone Lightning
Cell Phone Lightning
Description: PHOTO BY ETHAN KNOCKE. The photo was taken at 11:14 pm on Saturday June 21st, 2008 using a Blackberry Pearl 8130 camera phone. This phone has a 2MP resolution and I am not sure of the shutter speed and duration, but it`s certainly not very fast or long. Like I said it took me probably six or seven tries as the lightning rolled in between 11 and 11:15, and then all of a sudden I hit the camera button and saw the lightning flash on my cell-phone screen -very exciting!

This is VERY impressive from a cellphone, you must have been very lucky! It's good that cell phones are starting to have high enough resolution to capture weather phenomenon. I wonder if their exposure is longer than a regular camera? -- weathermatrix
