The AccuWeather Rainbow - 4 Rainbows

Description: Here you can see the other end of the primary and secondary rainbow in the sky and reflected on the building. Note here you can see the primary and secondary bow. On this mild but blustery and rainy January morning, AccuWeather Meteorologist Henry Margusity called me to tell me there was an awesome rainbow. I rushed from my desk at AccuWeather HQ and withstood 40 mph winds and driving rain to snap these pics. OK well there wasn`t much rain but it was my good camera!

Looking at the picture you can clearly see the double rainbow on the mirrowed windows of the AccuWeather building. That being said, this has to be the back side of the rainbow with the beam to the left of the building is the front part of the main beam. -- johnstownwildfire

Since two are reflections - actually of the other end of the rainbow, otherwise they would be backwards on the building - and two are the rainbow, this is not really that rare. It is possible to actually see 4 rainbows at the same time - that is extremely rare. See http://www.atoptics.co.uk/rainbows/bowim47.htm for an example. -- weathermatrix

I see that most have figured that the reflection is the base of the rainbow opposite from the base hidden behind the left corner of the building. Somebody remind me why the secondary color array is NOT ROYGBIV but rather VIBGYOR? -- jmvalentineIII
