Cloud Formed by Smoke
Cloud Formed by Smoke
Description: Clouds are formed when water vapor condenses around particles in the air. In this case, the smoke provided ample particles. This type of cloud is known as pyrocumulus. This picture was taken from Long Beach, NC. I was there on vacation and saw this huge plume of smoke emanating from a large forest fire considerably inland. The date of this picture is unknown. It is almost certainly either June or August - my vacation months, during the early 1990`s.
