lightning damge copper strapping used for groundin
lightning damge copper strapping used for groundin
Description: I have worked around radio towers for more than 30 years now and I have seen lightning do a lot of damage to the tower the ground wires and surrounding trees and vegatation. Note that every tower has ground strapes or wires which take the hit away from the base of tower as seen here. Often thought the hit will melt the ground wire and weaken the base of tower foundation.

Even though the tower and building have wide copper grounding strapes going into the ground the tower only one year old has all ready recorded over 60 hits of lightning. -- johnstownwildfire
