Fugurites Caused by Lightning
Fugurites Caused by Lightning
Description: An EF-1 tornado struck eastern Centre county on the evening of August 7th, 2007. Perhaps that same evening, a severe lightning strike burned a path 100 feet long on top of Round Top Mountain. This is a close up of the damage path, showing fulgurites which are tubes formed when the lightning turns sand into glass. More photos coming soon.
