Storm acts like a wrecking ball and does a number
Storm acts like a wrecking ball and does a number
Description: June 8th 2007 a day many will never forget. And for those who live in the Westmount section of Johnstown, their community will for a long time remember this day. The thunderstorm raced across the keystone state and when it hit this region it left a big impact. The people who live here take great pride in their community with the flowers, and trees but mother nature came through and kicked butt. Winds clocked up to over 70 MPH hit this stand of trees and turned them into tooth picks. I wa about 5 or 10 miles to the north when the storm hit at my location on Chickoree Mountain. I was about 200 feet higher and like many in this community who feel it was a tornado, I too saw rotation but only for a few secounds, the storm acted more like a micro burst. My hand held wind meter at horizontial position picke dup winds around 20 to 30 mph but when held at vetical position I was picking up winds close to 70 mph. Either way the wind on this day had a big impact on the whole region
